I have been asked by several colleagues to add material to this site on the Fukushima disaster.
Many people, including me, see too many parallels between the current experiences of Fukushima downwinders and the lifelong struggles of the Hanford downwinders. It is so very important to learn from Hanford, to stop the tragic mistreatment of downwinders from repeating itself. So I have begun working with friends around the world, including Bo Jacobs from the Hiroshima Peace Institute within Hiroshima City University, to build this new section of my site, which you can find here. I’ll be posting videos, resources, and personal stories that illuminate the commonalities on that page. I welcome your contributions. Please feel free to add your thoughts in comments below this post or on the Hanford/Fukushima page or in a private note to me.
Hanford Downwinders have been largely forgotten. It is my intention to keep that from happening to Fukushima’s victims.
