Due to the determination and dedication of a small group of individuals, (children of Hanford workers in addition to those who grew up in communities downwind of Hanford, their friends and supporters), the Downwinders have become part of the Manhattan Project’s 70th Anniversary commemoration agenda. We thank WSU TriCities for logistics and other support.
Our session will take place on the evening of Friday, October 25. Please join us for an evening of remembrance and reflection on the human toll of Hanford operations. We are pleased to welcome as our featured presenter, Kate Brown, author of Plutopia, Nuclear Families, Atomic Cities, and the Great Soviet and American Plutonium Disasters. Ms. Brown’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with a number of people who grew up in the shadow of Hanford.
Exact time and location for our session, entitled “In the Shadow of Plutopia: Living Downwind and Downstream from the world’s first plutonium plants” will be posted soon on the Manhattan Project 70th Anniversary website: Hanford 70th Anniversary Commemoration.
Please join us.
